WHEREAS Harlan Groover, a Retired Army Sergeant Major, and as Chairman, gave of his time and health to rebuild the membership and propriety of the Clayton County Republican Party following turbulent leadership, and in respect to his passing on October 27, 2019; and

WHEREAS Donald Woodard was a Retired Army Master Sergeant, and a compassionate man who lovingly supported his wife and their activities with the Clayton County Republican Party, and in respect to his passing on March 19, 2021; and

​

WHEREAS Violet Brown dedicated her life to service in Clayton County through the Order of the Eastern Star, First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, and through the Republican Party, and in respect to her passing on Dec 30, 2021; and

​

WHEREAS John Marxen was a US Army Veteran (SP4) having served in Vietnam, and loved Clayton County through his many elected and appointed roles within the Republican Party, including as Chairman Emeritus, and in respect to his passing on May 17, 2023; and

​

WHEREAS Glenda Thompson Bartlett was a cherished business owner, supporter of the VFW and American Legion, beloved friend and member of the Clayton County Republican Party, and in respect to her passing on June 25, 2023; and

​

WHEREAS Jerel Bartlett served proudly in the United States Navy, and was a very active member of the Clayton County Republican Party before moving to Fayette County, and in respect to his passing on October 02, 2023; and

​

WHEREAS Carl Swensson was a spirited member of the Clayton County Republican Party and served as Chairman, and in respect to his passing on November 03, 2023;

​

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Clayton County Republican Party formally recognizes and respectfully honors the life and service of these late members of the Clayton County Republican Party on this the 23rd day of March, 2024.
