60+ Years of Conservatism

Making Clayton County Great Again

The Clayton County Republican Party was founded in 1964 by a handful of local voters who were motivated by the words and values of men like AZ Senator Barry Goldwater, who made Conservatism easy to understand and relate to. His book "The Conscience of a Conservative" was instrumental in the creation and initial growth of the Clayton County Republican Party. In his foreword, Sen. Goldwater writes, "The Conservative approach is nothing more or less than an attempt to apply the wisdom and experience and the revealed truths of the past to the problems of today. The challenge is not to find new or different truths, but to learn how to apply established truths to the problems of the contemporary world."

You can read "The Conscience of a Conservative" with the links below!

Please note that the book was written in 1960 and contains cultural language and references that may shock some today. We recommend reading this with a mindset that is receptive to the premise of the text, which is that the foundations of liberty are more important than any temporary emotion. While reading, also consider modern substitutions to the text. Where you see references to civil rights, compare them to the social movements of today. Where the Soviet Union is mentioned, mentally swap the fallen USSR for contemporary parallels: China, Venezuela, North Korea, and of course, Russia, which continues to act as though the Cold War never ended.

The Clayton County Republican Committee

The "County Committee" describes the Voting Members of the Clayton County Republican Party.

If you identify with the Georgia Republican Party Platform, you're automatically considered part of the Republican Party, but to join the County Committee and become a Voting Member, you must satisfy the requirements set forth in our party rules. This includes Clayton County resident voter verification, an attendance requirement (three meetings within 12 months), and annual dues ($35/voter).

Meetings of the County Committee are held on the last Thursday of each month unless otherwise specified. All our meetings are listed under our "Upcoming" page.
